On the weekend Al and I headed out for a lovely little date night to the new The Kitchen at Chewton Glen; A relaxed dining space created by celebrity chef James Martin. With an open plan layout offering you the chance to watch their chefs doing what they do best. At the back of the restaurant is a cookery school, which also looks really cool, I may even take a class.
It’s hard to feel relaxed when you know you’re at one of the UKs most prestigious 5* hotels but from start to finish the waiters and waitresses made us feel at ease and settled us in for a beautiful evening of delicious food, drink and views.
For mains, we both opted for the mushroom burger with bacon and truffle mayo and oh my, it was tasty. The chips were gastro style, thick, chunky and perfect. Even the little side salad was super delish and not boring.
But, the desserts is where things got really really scrumptious. I chose the warm doughnuts with hot cinnamon & milk sauce, Al went for the pavlova with summer berries & elderflower which he rated a 10/10! Ever since eating those doughnuts I haven’t stopped thinking about them, honestly, they couldn’t have been any better – I would completely recommend!
Afterwards we took a walk around Chewton’s grounds which are stunning – We have stayed there before in one of their AMAZING treehouses, so knew where to head. We took a quick game of pingpong and enjoyed the wonderful views that surrounded us (and I took a lot of pictures – see my Instagram for more).
It really was a perfect evening and we both want to go again to try their tapas selection. I also need those doughnuts at least once more in my life!
